Hard to find 17th Century Delft posset pot. The posset pot is 5¾” high, with blue and blue-black bird and foliage decoration. It is in good condition, with repairs to the handles, numerous small chips, cracks and hairlines. Circa 1690-1700, English.

The posset pot was a type of vessel used in England during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries for posset, a drink made from a mixture of curdled milk, spices, and alcohol.

One-piece architectural barrel-back corner cupboard. The upper section sports a single molded arch door with four raised panels opening onto three beautifully shaped shelves. The lower section has a single door with two raised panels opening onto an interior with a single shelf. The surface is painted in later Spanish brown paint. The cupboard is in very good condition, with a minor repair to the edge molding on the proper left side, (the molding is seen as missing in the photos but has now been added back), and the normal wear and tear from age and usage. Folk art landscape painting, o/c, unsigned. The painting shows men haying, along with a farmhouse and the Hudson River in the background. The scene portrayed is after Jasper Cropsey’s “American Harvesting”. Cropsey was an important landscape artist of the Hudson River School. In 1851, his painting of “American Harvesting”, now in the collection of the Indiana University Art Museum, was widely acclaimed and was soon copied as a lithograph by Currier and Ives and also painted by several other artists of the Hudson River School. This is one of those paintings. It is in very good condition, with craquelure. Circa 1851, Hudson River School.
