Naïve portrait of a lady, oil on panel, attributed to Ralph D. Curtis, (1808-1885). The portrait depicts a seated woman with dark hair in ringlets around her face, wearing a green puffy sleeve dress and a shawl tied around her shoulders, sitting in front of a dark, blue-green background. It is framed in an ebonized frame. Although not signed, this portrait contains all the attributes of a Ralph Curtis portrait: oil on panel, dark background, thin oil pigments, and evidence of wooden braces on the back, (now removed.) It is in very good condition, with almost no in-painting visible when viewed under black light. Mid-19th century, New York.

Large Peaseware Jar

Six-Foot Harvest Table

Harvest table, pine and maple. The table sports a rectangular pine drop-leaf top supported by a maple base with beautifully turned legs. It is in very good condition, with nice proportions, an old surface and minor repairs. Circa 1830-1840, Vermont.

Pennsylvania Fractur

Pennsylvania folk art fractur, watercolor, pen and ink on paper. The fractur consists of a central circle with an inscription in German, part of which states that it was drawn in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The circle is surmounted by a shield and surrounded by two colorful birds, flowers and people, all within a geometric border. The fractur is signed at the bottom by the maker and dated “1810”. It is in good condition, retaining strong colors, with expertly repaired tears, and with some creases, small spots of staining and minor losses to the edges. A label on the back is from “The Old Print Shop”, a well-known art dealership in NYC.

Architectural Corner Cupboard

Exceptional architectural-form corner cupboard, pine. The cupboard sports an extremely bold cornice, attractive dentil molding, two glass doors above with mostly original wavy glass panes, butterfly shaped shelves, and two raised panel doors below. The ”H” and butterfly hinges are original although the H” hinges have been moved. The brass knobs on the doors are replacements. The cupboard is in very good condition. It was found in a stone house in Stone Ridge, NY. Circa 1770-1790.

The underside of the top was evidently used for some sort of woodworking project before the table was constructed, as evidenced by paint stains and a number of drilled holes. Folk art still life theorem on velvet. The theorem depicts a blue and white porcelain pitcher, a watermelon, a basket of fruit and other fruit sitting on a wooden tray. It is housed under glass in a later giltwood frame with carved corner elements. The theorem is in fair-good condition, with toning and staining, particularly to the border. Not examined out of the frame. 19th century, possibly Southern.
