Native American Burl Bowl
An early Native American burl bowl. This large Northeast Woodlands bowl has two open handles, a wonderful oblong shape and beautiful burl figuring. It was found in the Hudson Valley and probably dates from the 18th century. We have owned it for many years and are only now offering it for sale. The bowl is in fair condition, with repairs to the bottom and one side; not surprising given its age.. 18th century, New York State.

Figured Maple Tall Chest
Figured maple tall chest of drawers. The chest features a dovetailed top, five graduated drawers, a beautifully carved apron and bracket feet. Incised on the inside of the third drawer is, ”Turn out Octr -13th-1790 in the Cadet Company for Stephen Williams”. The chest is in very good condition, with one minor drawer lip repair, a repair to one bracket foot and filled age splits on the sides. Late 18th century, probably Salem, MA.
Stephen Williams was born May 8, 1774, the son of Captain George Williams who was probably a member of the Cadet Company or had something to do with the arrangements for “the turnout”. It was an all-day affair with drill in the morning and a mock battle in the afternoon. (From a letter from Esther Usher, Ass’t Librarian, The Essex Institute, Salem, MA, dated March 16, 1949.

Horse Weathervane on Stand
Full-bodied running horse weathervane, copper with a zinc head. The horse has excellent patina and is mounted on an unusually fine 19th century metal roof ornament. It is in good condition with some minor dents. Circa 1890, American.

Mohawk Valley Decorated Blanket Chest
Mohawk Valley decorated blanket chest. The chest sports the original paint decoration on the front, sides and lid typical of the area, original iron handles and cedar lining added at a later date. It is in very good condition, with paint wear on the lid and displaying only the age-appropriate wear and tear on the rest of the chest. Circa 1820, New York.

Painted table-top writing desk, pine. The desk is painted blue with red trim, and has a hinged writing surface that opens onto an interior fitted with two dovetailed drawers. It is in fair condition with warpage to the lid, refreshed paint and the expected wear and tear from age and usage. 19th century, American.

Four-drawer chest of drawers, figured walnut. The chest sports a molded top, four graduated drawers, a scrolled apron with a fan inlay and French feet. 18th Century Chest on Frame
18th century chest on frame, walnut. The top section sports three small drawers over two half-drawers over three graduated full-length drawers, flanked by fluted quarter columns. The bottom section has a single drawer and a beautifully scalloped apron and is supported by cabriole legs and trifid feet. The chest is in very good condition with only the expected wear from age and usage. 18th century, Pennsylvania or Middle Atlantic.
