Painted apothecary cabinet, pine. The cabinet sports 28 drawers and has an old yellow and mauve surface. It is a nice small size and can either be placed on a table or hung on a wall if desired. The cabinet is in good condition, with old second paint and a couple of old repairs to the facings. 19th century, New England.

Folk art fireboard, “The Lion and his Prey”, oil on canvas attached to boards, unsigned. The fireboard is titled on a label on the reverse from the American Folk Art Gallery in New York, which also indicates that the fireboard was found in Newport, RI. It is in very good condition, with some craquelure and only minor in-painting. 19th century, American.

The American Folk Art Gallery, founded in 1929, was the first commercial space dedicated to promoting and selling American folk art.

The chest sports two half-drawers over three graduated full drawers, all with inlaid quarter-fans and brass pulls above an attractively shaped apron with an inlaid tulip and bracket feet. The chest is in excellent condition and ready to use, with only a few minor repairs. The brass pulls are probably original. Circa 1800-1820, probably Tennessee.

Chippendale chest of drawers, walnut. The chest sports four dovetailed and graduated drawers with inlaid stringing, the top drawer with a central date of 1789 flanked by two fish forms, canted corners with lamb’s tongue terminals, and strong ogee bracket feet. The chest has an old dry finish and is in good condition, with replaced brasses in the original holes, stains on the top, shrinkage separations at the sides and the expected wear and tear from age and usage. 1789, Mid-Atlantic or Delaware Valley.

Queen Anne Cherry Highboy

Queen Anne highboy, cherry. The upper section of this highboy sports a molded cornice above five graduated drawers. The lower section sports a double false-front full drawer above a triple false front full drawer with a beautiful shell carving. Below the bottom drawer is a beautiful scrolled apron and bandy cabriole legs ending in pad feet. The highboy is in very good, near pristine condition with original drawer pulls and locks, marred only by a shrinkage separation on each side of the lower section. 18th century, Dunlap School, New Hampshire.

It sports red paint restored to match the original color, and a beautiful scalloped apron below the bottom shelf. The bottom shelf was replaced some time ago, probably due to water damage. Early 19th century, American.
