Chippendale chest of drawers, walnut. The chest sports four dovetailed and graduated drawers with inlaid stringing, the top drawer with a central date of 1789 flanked by two fish forms, canted corners with lamb’s tongue terminals, and strong ogee bracket feet. The feet and base moldings are old replacements. The chest has an old dry finish and is in good condition, with replaced brasses in the original holes, stains on the top, shrinkage separations at the sides and the expected wear and tear from age and usage. 1789, Mid-Atlantic or Delaware Valley.
