Checkerboard Block Quilt
Pieced checkerboard block quilt, cotton. The quilt sports turkey red and white checkerboard blocks set on point with sashing of pale blue floral calico and a plain white backing. The fine quilting features a different design in each of the plain white squares in the checkerboard blocks. The quilt has very good crisp, bright colors, but with scattered brown stains and wear consistent with age and use. A laundry tag stitched to the back of the quilt reads, “Sarah A. Morrow”. Circa 1840-1850.

Gamecock Weathervane
An excellent gamecock weathervane, copper with zinc feet. The weathervane sports an attractive blue-green patina and is in good condition, with some loss to the top tail feather and other wear from age and usage. The stand is contemporary. 19th century, probably New England.

Calico 9-Patch Quilt
Pieced calico quilt. The quilt has the design of a nine-patch block alternating with a plain calico block, set on point. Two colors are used. One is a dark brown block print from circa 1790 and another 18th century block print with spindly floral vines on white. The back is a later circa 1840 print with a gray-blue/beige leafy design. The quilt is in good condition, with some brown dye loss in the early block print on the front and wear consistent with age and usage. Circa 1840, American.

Shiraz Rug
A hand-woven antique Persian Shiraz rug. The rug is woven in a classic design with wool on wool and sports a navy-blue field with blue, red, navy and teal accents and navy medallions. It is in good condition, but with some low and worn areas and unraveled original ends.

Shell Decorated Sewing Box
Shell decorated sewing box. The box sports a hinged lid with a centered pincushion top, with scattered shells and shell blossoms in each corner, a base decorated with rows and blossoms of shells and raised on four brass ball feet. The box is in good condition, with scattered loss of shells, mostly along the bottom margins. (Some loose shells included in the box.) Late 19th century.

Painted Chippendale Tavern Table
Country Chippendale tavern table. The table sports a scrubbed top with breadboard ends and a nice overhang, a base in old red paint with an overlapping drawer and molded legs. The table is in very good condition and would make a great coffee table in front of a sofa. Late 18th century, New England.

Set of 6 Paint Decorated Chairs
Set of six paint decorated chairs. The chairs sport a tablet top and shaped plank seats and retain their original paint decoration of fruit and acorn stenciling on a pea green background. One chair is stamped “J. SWINT/CHAIR MAKER” on the underside of the seat. (John Swint was a Lancaster County, PA cabinetmaker, active from 1845-1850.) The chairs are in good to very good condition, with a repaired leg on one chair and the expected degree of wear and tear from age and usage. Mid-19th century, Pennsylvania.
