Early ball-footed blanket chest, pine. The chest sports old red paint over the original red, rose-headed nailed construction, a lid with interior supports over a molded edge, original snipe hinges, two false drawers with double-arch molding over two real drawers, all supported by original ball feet tenoned into the base. The chest is in good condition with some missing double-arch molding and the expected wear and tear from age and usage. Early 18th century, New England, possibly CT or MA.
