Folk art fireboard, “The Lion and his Prey”, o/c attached to boards, unsigned. The fireboard is titled on a label on the reverse from the American Folk Art Gallery in New York, which also indicates that the fireboard was found in Newport, RI. It is in very good condition, with some craquelure and only minor in-painting. 19th century, American.

The American Folk Art Gallery, founded in 1929, was the first commercial space dedicated to promoting and selling American folk art.
