Rue Family Fractur

Fractur documenting the Rue Family birth record, ink and watercolor on paper laid down to board. The fractur records the births of six men and four women from 1744 to 1784. The borders are colorfully decorated with berries, vines, birds and fruit. The fractur is in good condition, but with some toning, foxing, creasing and discoloration. 18th century, New Jersey.

Blue Cupboard

Painted two-door pine cupboard. The cupboard is attractively decorated with blue paint, with unusual inset diamonds and chip carving on the front and both sides. Other features include an attractive cornice, and beaded backboards. The interior has a large storage area with three removable shelves, (the fourth shelf is missing). The hinges are stamped “Clark Patent”. The cupboard is in very good condition. The blue paint has been restored to match the original paint. 19th century, Canadian.

Eight-Foot Sawbuck Farm Table

Painted 8-foot sawbuck table. The table sports a three-board top and old red paint, and is constructed with hand-forged rose-headed nails. It is sturdy and in very good condition, with some age cracks and age-appropriate wear. The table is ready for everyday use, seating 8-10 comfortably. A rare early table! Portrait of Isaac Sheldon, o/c, painted by John Bisbee. The portrait depicts a young boy dressed in a red tunic with brass buttons, holding a riding crop. It is framed in an ornate lemon gold frame. The reverse is inscribed, “Isaac Sheldon/Painted by John Bisbee Jan. 12,1849/Restored by Conrad F Haessler/Jan. 20, 1931/ Phila., PA”. The Sheldon family was one of the earliest to emigrate from England and settle in 17th century New England.

Pewter Cupboard

Early step-back two-part pewter cupboard, poplar. The upper section sports an applied cornice molding over a cutout scalloped frieze, and three beaded shelves, one of which has spoon slots, two with plate rails and all three with multiple plate grooves, making this an excellent display piece. The lower section has three small drawers over two paneled doors that open onto interior shelving and is supported by turned tapered legs. The cupboard is in very good condition with wear commensurate with age. Circa 1800-1820, New England.

Hepplewhite one-drawer night stand, cherry. The stand has a rectangular top, a single drawer with thumbnail molding and wide dovetails, original brasses and straight tapered legs. It is in good condition, structurally sound, but with plugged screw holes in the top and wear and tear commensurate with age. Circa 1800, Mid-Atlantic.

Windsor fan-back, brace-back armchair, mixed woods. The armchair sports a scrolled ear crest, shaped hand holds, a wide plank seat, baluster turned arm supports and traces of early green paint under an old refinish. It is in very good structural condition, but with a butterfly patch under the seat. 18th century, probably Nantucket, MA.
