Large swell-body steer weathervane, copper. This weathervane sports a nicely weathered surface with traces of gilt remaining. It is mounted on an unusual incised marble base (not original). The weathervane is in very good condition, with a few dents, a minor seam separation and no indication of any repairs. Late 19th century, American.

The four sides all have inlaid geometric patterns and two are decorated with inlaid doves as well.
