The top is pleasantly worn with ring stains and there is paint wear on the base. The table is sturdy and ready for everyday use. Early 19th century, New England.

Chippendale Slant-Front Desk

Chippendale slant-front desk, maple. The desk sports four graduated drawers with original brasses, an interior with two long drawers, five small drawers and seven cubbies. The desk is in very good condition, having been professionally refinished. There are a few drawer lip repairs and the hinges appear to have been replaced. Late 18th century, likely New Hampshire.

Painted Queen Anne drop-leaf table with shaped apron ends, maple. Later black paint has been taken down to the original red. The table is a good classic example with excellent proportions. It is in very good original structural condition, with paint wear on the leaves, some paint enhancement, evidence of moved or replaced hinges and a small loss to one toe. Circa 1750-1760, New England.

Queen Anne highboy, butternut. The upper section sports an attractive cornice containing a secret drawer above four graduated drawers. The lower section sports a single wide drawer over three small drawers, and is supported by delicate cabriole legs ending in pad feet. The highboy is in very good condition with a warm honey finish. The brasses have been replaced, the drops on the apron are missing, there is minor damage to one brass backplate and wear commensurate with age and usage. From our own collection. Circa 1770, New England.

Painting of Washington’s tomb at Mount Vernon, o/c, by William Matthew Prior, (1806-1873).  This beautiful painting was one of at least thirteen views of Mount Vernon painted by Prior over his lifetime. It shows the tomb, the mansion up on a hill behind it and the Potomac River off to the right. The painting is in very good condition, lined with some craquelure. Minor damage to the frame. Mid-19th century, Virginia.
