Painted dower chest. The chest features three decorated tombstone panels, two with pinwheel decorations flanking the middle panel inscribed “Abraham Bauman/1814”. The chest sports exceptional original hand-forged strap hinges and the original grab lock. It is in good condition, with stains on the lid, a patch to the lid at the lock, patches to the back and the bottom, and a small mouse hole on the lid of the till. The feet have been replaced. Pennsylvania Dutch two-part cupboard, figured walnut and tiger maple. The top section features a strong cornice above two glass doors, each with six panes of old wavy glass. (One pane has been replaced.) The doors open onto shelves with plate rails and spoon slots for enhanced display. The bottom section sports three small drawers with tiger maple fronts over two paneled doors sitting on turned feet. The cupboard is in very good condition, marred only by a small shrinkage separation between the boards on the proper left side and a small putty filled knot on the proper right side.
