080172
A highly unusual naive painting of a witch on an 18th century mahogany piecrust tray. Some of the painted surfaces are incised. The painting is of a witch with a peaked hat holding a staff. (Note the 7 fingers on her hand.) Also shown are the four aces and a book, whose writing is illegible. There is some damage to the tray. This is a highly unique, and most likely a one-of-a-kind example of early folk art.
Dimensions: Approximately 18 1/2" diameter.
