A painted Pennsylvania dower chest, pine. The chest is decorated with a large heart flanked by two lozenges, along with two lozenges on the lid and one on each end. Inside the heart is the name, “Elisabeth Unger” and the date, “1807”.
The chest itself is in very good condition, but the feet are not original. Also, the lid was flipped many years ago and has now been flipped back to its original position. The chest retains its original hardware, including strap hinges and a grab lock and key. The lock has been purposely disabled, however.
