Paint decorated six-board child’s blanket chest, pine. The chest sports a one-board top affixed with battens to the underside, solid sides with bootjack cutouts. It is decorated with original black and yellow freehand decoration with a very striking pattern. The chest is in good overall condition, with an area of mouse chew on the front panel under the lid, an old knot repair on the proper left side, a small loss to the back of the lid, and other wear and tear from age and usage. First quarter of the 19th century, New England.
