Paint decorated blanket chest, poplar. The blanket chest retails its original black and red squiggle paint decoration and is inscribed in pencil under the lid, “Bought by Lyman Hopson for his daughter Martha in 1840”. It is in good condition, with an age crack in the front panel and the expected wear and tear from its age and usage. Mid-19th century, Pennsylvania or Ohio.
