Leather fire bucket. The bucket is painted with characters on the front and, while difficult to read, “United Fire Association”, the number “4” and the date, “1807” can be made out. The rest of the writing is obscured. The date “1807” refers to the year when the United Fire Association was formed in Rockport, MA. The bucket is in fair to good condition, slightly compressed and with considerable losses to the painted lettering. An identical bucket is on display at the Sandy Bay Historical Society in Rockport, MA. Early 19th century, MA.
