Naive Hudson River landscape painting, o/c, unsigned. The scene is of two men looking across the Hudson River at a small town nestled at the base of a mountain. The mountains and sky have a nice purplish tone, similar to the color and mood when viewing the Hudson from a distance. The gold leaf frame is original. Attributed to Joseph Hidley, (1830-1872). Hidley was an itinerant artist and handyman who lived in Poestenkill, NY for much of his life.
