Hanging salt box, tulip poplar. This dovetailed box sports an old, nicely worn, red painted surface, a backboard topped with three “lollipop” carvings, a hinged slant lid opening onto an open interior, and a single dovetailed drawer divided into six compartments. It is in very good condition, exhibiting only the expected wear from age and usage. The brass knob on the drawer appears to be original. Circa 1820-1830, Pennsylvania.
