Folk art portrait of a child in a wicker chair, o/c, unsigned. The child is wearing a green dress and green knitted shoes and is holding a cookie in one hand and a wicker fan in the other. The coral necklace was worn as a good luck charm and to keep illness away. The seashell on the floor is a curious addition. The painting is in very good condition, having been professionally conserved and relined. Circa 1840, American school.
