An outstanding Federal step-back cupboard, poplar. The upper section of this two-part cupboard is attractively canted and sports a strong molded cornice, fluted quarter columns flanking two glass doors that open onto an attractive blue painted interior with two molded shelves, plate grooves and spoon slots for enhanced display. This section has been electrified but this has not been tested and is not guaranteed to work properly.
The lower section has reeded quarter columns, with three small drawers above two paneled doors opening onto a blue painted interior with shelving. The cupboard is supported by ogee bracket feet. It is in very good condition. The glass panes and the brasses have been replaced. The plate rails in the upper section are missing. Also, there are scattered repairs and the normal wear and tear from age and usage. Circa 1800, Pennsylvania.
