Early pewter cupboard, red gum. This cupboard is of a rare form, with open shelves above and a lower section containing both a shelf and a door opening onto a storage compartment. Other features include early rose-headed nails, butterfly hinges on the door, scrolled sides and an attractive cornice. The shelves are far enough apart for the cupboard to be used as a bookcase as well as for a display piece. The cupboard is in good condition with wear commensurate with age and signs of some 19th century restoration. Early 18th century, Hudson Valley.
