A fine eight-legged Windsor settee, maple, poplar and ash. The settee sports a fine old warm surface, with knuckle arm terminals, deeply carved vase and ring arm supports and legs and bulbous turned stretchers. It is in very good condition, displaying only the expected wear from age and usage. A virtually identical settee is pictured in Santore, “The Windsor Chair in America, Vol. II, p. 189. Circa 1765-1780, probably Philadelphia.
