Portrait of Lucy Putnam, o/c, unsigned. The portrait depicts a woman with brown hair and eyes, wearing a blue dress with a lace collar and pendant earrings. She is seated by a window framed by a drapery. The painting is housed in a lemon gold molded frame. It is in very good condition, having been professionally conserved and relined. A label on the back reads ”Lucy Putnam of Danvers, Mass/Restoration by Gustav Kligman Boston”. Circa 1825-1830, Massachusetts.
Lucy Putnam was born on March 6, 1801. She married William Richard Johnson on October 29, 1826. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters. She died on January 16,1848 at the age of 46, and was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.
