Painted egg, or “buttocks” basket. The basket is constructed with woven white oak splints, an arched bent wood handle with “X” form supports and a wrapped double rim. It sports an old, probably original, dry green painted surface. The basket is in very good condition, with only a few scattered breaks and losses around the rim. Attributed to the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.
