Hudson River painting of Caldwell’s Landing, o/c, unsigned. This dramatic painting depicts sailing ships and a steamboat on a turbulent river, with docked rowboats and a river logging operation in the foreground. On the other side of the river is a lighthouse and, beyond that, the Hudson Highlands. The painting is unframed and in good condition. 19th century, New York State.
Caldwell’s Landing was a busy port in the mid-19th century, located just south of Highlands. It is now called Stony Point.
