A group of four banister-back chairs, consisting of one armchair and three side chairs. Two side chairs are a near-pair, with old black paint over the original red, block and vase turnings on the legs. Both were likely made by the same maker, probably in Boston or Plymouth MA in the mid-18th century. See, “The Furniture of Historic Deerfield”, page 30.
The other two chairs are similar in style but not an exact match. All the chairs are in very good condition with good rush seats. (The armchair rush seat has very minor imperfections.) 18th century, New England.
