A beautiful four-color Jacquard coverlet. The coverlet features patterns known as Birds Feeding Their Young, Penelope’s Flower Pot, and Boston Town Border. Early twentieth century coverlet scholars referred to this last pattern that includes Federal architecture with elements of Chinoiserie as “Christians and Heathens.” The colors are indigo blue, olive green, coral and red on a natural linen background. The coverlet is in very good condition, including the fringe and dates from circa 1840. Possibly made by Daniel Pursell, Ohio.
