Outstanding folk art child’s wagon with driver.
The wagon sports original vibrant blue paint with black wagon striping and a small horse head painted on each side. The wooden wheels have painted spokes and metal rims. The wagon brake is moveable and controlled by a wooden bar on the side of the wagon. The driver is made of wood and is wearing his original fabric garments and a leather-brimmed wooden hat. The rear wagon seat is moveable and the back of the wagon is removable.
The wagon and its paint are in very good condition. The driver is missing one arm and the ends of his feet are also missing. His fabric garments have experienced the wear anticipated from many years of use as a child's toy.
This toy dates from the late 19th century and was found in the Hudson Valley. It is an outstanding example of folk art that would enhance any collection.
