Early 18th Century Pewter Cupboard


A rare and very early hooded pewter cupboard, pine. The cupboard sports old green paint, a three-shelf open top with plate grooves, a wide countertop with rounded ends, early moldings, hand-forged butterfly hinges attached with big rose-headed nails, and the original turn buckle, also attached with a rose headed nail. The cupboard is in good condition, with a small hole in the top board that can easily be repaired if desired and the expected degree of wear from age and usage. Early 18th century, probably Hudson Valley or Mohawk Valley, NY.
