Early 18th century ladderback armchair, hickory and ash. The chair sports four shaped slats, turned posts topped with egg-form finials, turned arms and hand-holds, and turned legs joined by two stretchers at the front and sides and a single (replaced) stretcher in the back. It has a white oak splint seat in good condition and retains an old surface with excellent wear. Early 18th century, New England, (probably CT).
