Chippendale two-piece step-back cupboard, poplar. The cupboard sports four recessed paneled doors with molded panels, two drawers and an attractive bracket base. The shelves have both spoon slots and plate grooves for enhanced display. Circa 1800-1820, American.
The cupboard has a very attractive, soft patina, and is in very good condition, but shows some wear and tear from age and usage. There is a vertical shrinkage crack on both ends and the remains of an old repair made to strengthen one door, as shown in the photos. The feet have also lost a little height. Nevertheless, this remains a beautiful cupboard, perfect for display as well as storage, that would enhance any room in which it is placed
