Early Hudson Valley corner cupboard, cherry. The cupboard sports two blind doors above and two below. The entire front of the cupboard boasts beautiful raised panels. Other features include a rich old patina, shaped shelves, a very attractive cornice, large hand-forged rose-headed nails and hand-forged hinges that replaced the original “H” hinges around 1800. The cupboard is in very good condition, with no replacements other than the hinges and the expected degree of wear and tear from age and usage. Such a beautifully paneled piece must have come out of a lovely early home. Taken from our own collection, we can attest that this cupboard becomes a focal point in any room in which it is placed. Early 18th century, New York.
