Rare 18th century Connecticut great chair, maple and ash. The chair boasts three highly-arched slats, exceptional turnings on both the front and back posts, bold finials, turned and slanted arms, very unusual carved hand-holds, and double ball feet. It has a good rush seat and sports a rich old finish. The chair is in very good condition, the only defect of note being an old repair to the top slat. This rare chair would make a commanding presence wherever it is placed. Circa 1720-1730, New London County, CT.
