Painting of cats and fish, oil on canvas, signed "Charles Hawes", possibly the nationally recognized illustrator of children's books and magazines in the early 20th century.
The painting is in a nice old frame, and has a whimsical quality to it. The cats, in particular, have almost child-like faces as they contemplate their soon-to-be ill-gotten dinner. 20th century.
