Important oversized early stretcher-base tavern table, walnut. The table sports a removable pinned top, a stretcher base with three drawers and a beautiful scalloped apron. The table has magnificent color and patina and is all original. It would look equally great in back of a sofa, as a coffee table, as a server, etc., and would be a focal point in any room in which it was placed. Early 18th century, Pennsylvania origin.
Provenance: Eddy Nicholson collection. (The collection was auctioned off in 1995 for $14 million, the most ever paid for a private collection of early American furniture at the time.)
